Scottsdale is long and narrow, and you can climb 3,000 feet in elevation more than 45 minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor and downtown. You can choose from over 200 golf courses, and dozens of golf communities, some with and some without membership options, including Desert Highlands, Desert Mountain and the Boulders Resort. Carefree and Cave Creek are quaint towns with Open Mic nights at the many country western bars.
The dark sky feeds beautiful sunsets and star lit evenings and the night life is rather quiet here, removed from the greater metro Phoenix vibe. Hiking is incredible, and there are a few smaller private airports to choose from. Rio Verde lies to the east, and close to Roosevelt Lake and Tonto National Forrest, one of the largest in the nation. Horse property, wells and septic are common here.
